Applicants with a current firearm permit who are completing their fourth semi-annual range qualification for the purpose of renewing a firearm permit must complete a two-hour refresher course, pass a written examination, and complete the course of fire.
This course satisfies the California BSIS Bi-Annual Firearms Renewal Requirement.
Upon successful completion of this course, documentation to prove completion will be provided to the attendee.
NOTE: If, in addition to completing this Bi-Annual Qualification course at the API Academy, the attendee completed all of their three most recent required semi-annual re-qualifications courses here as well, API Academy will provide the attendee historical documentation of all qualifications required for Firearms Card Renewal.
Just as a reminder, a California BSIS issued Firearms Permit expires two years from the date of issuance. An applicant must re-qualify four times during the life of the permit: twice during the first year after the date of issuance, and twice during the second year. Re-qualifications must be at least four months apart and the last qualification must include a two hour refresher course and a written exam.
